For Progress - How A Good Partner Can Make Business Better

Recently
I was thinking about our video partners.
I was contemplating how I was going to get them
motivated to go ahead and get their video loaded and ready for
marketing in our new shopping cart coming at the end of the
month. After all,
they’d created it. It’s
time to take action to show it.
But they are moving slow.
Then,
I had an AHA! moment. An AHA! moment is when some profound
truth hits you square in the head.
Video
creators enjoy the creation process.
Thinking it up and filming are great fun.
But handling the details of running a business to sell
that video might not be so fun.
It takes encoding multiple versions, then putting a link on a web site
or building a web site if there not one already, finding an
audience who wants to see all the video creator produces,
keeping in touch with them (it's called marketing), and
setting up a way to delivery it.
BORRRING!
No
wonder so many have a hard time making progress
with their business regardless of what I advise them to do.
Then it struck me...."because they are not doing what
they LOVE to do."
They
are misguided into thinking that somehow they're going to make
more money by doing everything themselves. But that is
negative thinking. That is thinking "How do I SAVE money?".
Abundance comes from thinking abundantly. Instead,
focusing on "How do I MAKE money?" might be a
better way to view it.
How
does a person do that? I have come up with a way for
myself. Pretend you are advising a friend. Take
you and your emotions out of it completely. Now,
visualize that friend struggling along to make their business
happen. What kind of advise could you give to your
friend to help get them off of square one and on to making
money? What would enable them to make big progress in
the easiest and most expedient way?
Second
thing to do is get over thinking you need to keep all the
profit from your business. Again, if you think like
someone who hoards you are thinking negatively. Share
the wealth and go further, faster, easier.
I got someone else to encode my new video and it was
done it 2 days. Thanks
to these guys I didn’t have to run around trying to deliver
it, pick it up, upload it and link it.
I mailed them the beta tape and they did it all. It was
practically painless. http://www.audiovideoweb.com
Here
is an example of how well things can turn out if you just let
go. I was a financial consultant at one time in my life.
I was good at convincing people to work with me, but I
absolutely hated paperwork that was required and I must admit
I'm not a good "systems" person. After all,
I'm creative right? Well, after 3 years I was doing
pretty well, but went home frustrated and tired every day
after a 15-16 hour day. Finally, I decided to take on a
partner. She had only a year experience, far less
clients, and struggled just to keep going. Yet, I agreed
to share with her 50/50 . I was giving up half of the
income from my clients, but I knew I had to do something
different or drown.
Believe
it or not, within less than a year I was making more and
working less ... EVEN THOUGH I GAVE UP 50% OF THE INCOME FROM
MY CLIENTS! Why?
We were all happier doing what we did best. She turned
out to be a systems person, while I'm a people person.
She put in place systems to bring in prospective clients and
handle the details of our business. As the experienced
partner, I got to work with the prospects and turn them to
clients once they came in. It was so successful that my
company eventually implemented a program to teach people to
partner.
I'll
be honest, now that I'm a cyberduchess....I'm kind of bored
posting stuff in the web site when what I'd really rather do
is talk to people. So, I got myself a technical college
student and life is soooooooo much better! He's faster,
smarter than me about technical stuff, and he likes doing it.
That frees me up to do what I'm really best doing. Yes,
I'm paying him but he's much less expensive than me doing it.
So,
my point is....if you love creating video in your special
niche, but you're spending time doing e-zines or updating your
website or marketing when none of these are in your skill set,
why not partner up or just hire someone instead?
You'll make more money concentrating on doing what you do best
and you'll be a whole lot happier.
Partners
make progress! I'll try to remember that next time. For
now....gotta go post this in my website :-)
