Entertainment Products Top the
Charts This Holiday Season

fruitcake and tube socks! According to the National Retail
Federation's (NRF) 2003 Holiday Consumer Intentions and
Actions Survey, CDs, books, movies and video games were the
top gifts purchased during last Thanksgiving weekend.
Don't be caught on the
bad-gift giver list this holiday. Here are some of hottest
entertainment products for 2004 sure to make up for last
year's follies.
Music
From the hip teen to
stuck-in-the-70s dad, music makes a great gift. Sam Goody
stores anticipate new releases from Ludacris, Lil' John,
Eminem and Nelly will top young adults' lists, while albums
from Rod Stewart, Shania Twain and George Strait are sure to
be welcomed gifts for the young at heart. Classic holiday
titles by Mannheim Steamroller, Trans-Siberian Orchestra,
Tony Bennett and Bing Crosby also will help ring in the
season.

Movies
What better way to spend the
holidays with the family than enjoying some of the best
movies of 2004? According to Suncoast Motion Picture
Company, new releases including Shrek 2, Elf, Spider-Man 2,
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Chronicles of
Riddick and The Terminal will be hot for the holidays. Boxed
sets of TV shows, such as CSI and Seinfeld, continue to be
sought-after gifts. Classic favorites including It's a
Wonderful Life and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer are sure
to get family and friends into the holiday spirit.
Video Games
Video games are always popular
holiday gifts and this year's new titles are sure to please
the video game enthusiast on your list. For PS2, Grand
Turismo 4, The Fast and the Furious and Dragon Ball Z:
Budokai 3 are must-have titles. Halo 2, Star Wars
Battlefront and Doom 3 for XBOX will be hot for the
holidays. Nintendo GameCube fans will love to see Lord of
the Rings: Call of Duty: Finest Hour and Metroid Prime 2
under the tree.
Launching in late November,
Nintendo DS is a new handheld with dual screens offering
both touch and voice control and wireless game play. New
games for Nintendo DS include Metroid Prime: Hunters, Super
Mario 64x4, Bomberman and Yu-Gi-Oh: Nightmare Troubador.
Books
According to Media Play
stores, books with theatrical tie-ins will be hot this
holiday. Top titles include Polar Express, Curious George
and Grisham's Skipping Christmas.
Gift Cards
Great for those
hard-to-buy-for people on your list, gift cards continue to
be a popular holiday gift. The NRF said consumers spent $17
billion on gift cards last holiday season. Sam Goody,
