New Matrox DualHead2Go delivers unique multi-display support for laptops
World's first external multi-monitor upgrade to dramatically increase creative workflow

Montreal, Canada, November 8, 2005 - Matrox Graphics Inc., the leading manufacturer of professional graphics solutions, is pleased to announce the Matrox DualHead2Go, the world's first external upgrade designed to deliver multi-display support to compatible laptops. The DualHead2Go, which connects to the VGA output of a laptop, allows a user to attach two external displays to their system in order to run a Microsoft® Windows® desktop at a resolution up to 2560x10241 stretched, across both displays. This workspace flexibility helps creative professionals who require portability to increase both their desktop space and productivity in the studio and on the go.

"Having this ultra-compact, external multi-display upgrade is a huge advantage for creative professionals who work with laptops," says Caroline Injoyan, product manager, Matrox Graphics Inc. "DualHead2Go will deliver the multi-display setup users have grown accustomed to with their workstations, while helping them maximize the usability of their editing application as a result."

The DualHead2Go takes full advantage of the system's existing GPU for 2D, 3D, and video acceleration. What's more, for maximum visual real-estate, creative professionals can use the DualHead2Go in conjunction with the built-in display of a laptop and benefit from three displays at a time. For example: video editors can place tools, bins and controls on the laptop LCD while placing timelines and preview windows on the two external displays. Audio professionals can extend tracks and place mixers across all three displays, while graphics designers can view photo editing and desktop publishing applications simultaneously. With DualHead2Go, creative professionals no longer have to compromise desktop space for the sake of portability.

The DualHead2Go is a palm-sized box that resides outside of the system, and being external, does not require the user to open their laptop computer in order to install it. It appears to the Windows operating system as an ultra-widescreen display with native resolution support of up to 2560 x 10241. Using Matrox patent-pending technology, it divides the single widescreen resolution into two standard ones, providing for the seamless integration of two external displays. For increased flexibility, the included Matrox PowerDesk SE software manages windows positioning and message pop-ups.

System Compatibility
DualHead2Go is compatible with a wide range of laptop models. Desktop PC support for DualHead2Go is limited to certain PCs based on integrated graphics. A complete list of compatible systems is posted on the Matrox website and will be regularly updated to reflect new system support. Additionally, a free DualHead2Go online compatibility utility is available allowing users to pre-validate that their system is compatible with DualHead2Go prior to purchase.
