FANS STAR IN YEAH YEAH YEAHS "CHEATED HEARTS"

VIDEO WITH HELP FROM FINAL CUT EDITOR STEPHEN BERGER

Los Angeles, CA - (July 28, 2006) - Yeah Yeah Yeahs fans make an appearance in the band's latest music video, "Cheated Hearts," courtesy of singer Karen O and Final Cut Editor Stephen Berger.

In the video, the band reaches out to their fans by incorporating homemade videos in which the fans perform and lip sync along to the song. The entire music video contains clips of fans, dressed up as either their version of Karen O, guitarist Nick Zinner or drummer Brian Chase. This is interspersed with footage from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs own video entry.

Some try to be quite literal in their performance by having all the right gear on a makeshift stage while others are more abstract/concept oriented. The effort plays right into the band's quirky image and makes for a unique, smile-inducing video.

The band issued a call for submissions via their website and through the Internet and pulled in 100 submissions from all over the world. In the end, the video incorporated 25 different fan-generated entries.

"The concept was Karen's idea," explains Berger. "She had a vision for what she hoped the video could be and how she hoped we'd be able to utilize the footage. There was no guarantee this would work, as her idea(s) existed before the footage did, but I think we pulled it off. It has a lot of heart."

Berger had to work with 30 hours of material, which - with many fans having done multiple takes - included 370 different performances of the song. After four days of pulling selects alone and one day of working together on trying to figure out the structure Berger and Karen O were able to create the final cut during a six-hour session, which the editor says is indicative of their working relationship.

"I love working with Karen," concludes Berger. "It's been my most satisfying creative relationship. She has a very strong creative vision and a huge heart. She knows what she wants to achieve and has a knack for stretching the possibilities. I'm never quite sure how things come together so smoothly, but we always seem to wind up with something people respond well to."

The video marks a successful ongoing collaboration between Final Cut Editor Stephen Berger and Karen O having worked on six projects together. Berger has also edited three other Yeah Yeah Yeahs projects for Directors Lance Bangs, Spike Jonze and Patrick Daughters.
