Expanded storage is made
possible through Seagate's D.A.V.E.
Technology
SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif.-January 7,
2008-Seagate Technology (NYSE:STX) and
Sanyo announce today that Seagate’s
Digital Audio Video Experience™ (D.A.V.E.™)
Technology Platform, that provides
substantial wireless storage capacity
for digital files from mobile devices,
is compatible with Sanyo’s Hi-Def Xacti
Digital Movie Camera.
The compatibility of
Seagate’s D.A.V.E technology with
Sanyo’s Xacti HD Digital Movie Camera
allows consumers to shoot freely without
the worry of filling up the internal 4GB
or 8GB memory. By connecting D.A.V.E.
technology to the Sanyo Xacti HD Digital
Movie Camera using USB, users are
essentially adding up to 60GB of storage
and the freedom of taking crisp, clear
HD videos and high quality photos,
without sacrificing the look and feel of
the world’s smallest and lightest full
high-definition digital movie camera.
“Sanyo endorsing the
D.A.V.E. platform for use with its full
high-definition digital camera confirms
the need for more and more mobile
storage,” said Patrick King, senior vice
president and general manager of
Seagate’s Consumer Electronics Business
Unit. “In this instance, the D.A.V.E.
platform is being used to enhance a
visually appealing device without
sacrificing its look.”
The World’s Smallest
and Lightest High-Definition Digital
Movie Camera
The Sanyo VPC-HD1000 can record full
high-definition movies at 1920 x 1080
resolution. It achieves this despite
having a volume of only 272 cc and a
weight of 268 g – making it the world’s
smallest and lightest high-definition
digital movie camera. For video
recording, it uses the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264
codec, an advanced video compression
technology. This enables it to record 43
minutes of full HD (1920 x 1080)
recording onto a 4 GB SDHC memory card.
Additional Seagate
Solution Enables Users to Easily Save
Tons of Digital Home Movies
Beyond the innovative mobile D.A.V.E.
platform, Seagate understands the
importance of managing and storing
precious memories accumulated while
using the full high-definition Xacti
Digital Movie Camera. Seagate’s
FreeAgent™ Pro external storage solution
enables fast and easy transfer of movies
and photos by connecting directly to the
Xacti’s docking station via USB
interface. Get the freedom to access and
share your latest files whenever you
need them with the Seagate FreeAgent Pro
hard drive. By automatically duplicating
and moving content you’ve selected, the
FreeAgent Pro storage solution will send
your files to multiple locations like
contacts to your iPod™ music player,
photos to a Shutterfly™ account, your
entire “My Documents” folder to your
FreeAgent external hard drive, or move
it to your personal online storage space
where you can get access and share your
files from any browser 24/7. More
information on the Seagate FreeAgent Pro
hard drive can be found at

On-The-Go Unified
Content Management
The increasing demand for mobile content
requires innovative and easy-to-use
solutions to take it all with you. There
are one billion digital still and
digital phone cameras in the world; in
2006 they accounted for 250 billion
created images. According to Frost &
Sullivan, the number of mobile video
download subscribers will jump to nearly
five million in 2010 as compared to
roughly 250,000 mobile video download
subscribers in 2006. Consumers want to
manage this commercial and
user-generated content, but how is this
done? Using Bluetooth1 or WiFi2 and
built for portability anywhere up to 30
feet (9.1 meters) from a mobile device,
the Seagate D.A.V.E. mobile platform
with 60GB of storage capacity provides
consumers with a centralized hub to
bring their primary digital content with
them – all without sacrificing the look
and feel of their mobile device.
