YouTube Launches Super
Tuesday Video Initiative
Voters, presidential campaigns
and news organizations to showcase Super
Tuesday through video
SAN BRUNO, CA –
January 23, 2008 – YouTube, the
leading online video community that
allows people to discover, watch and
share originally created videos, has
established a centralized hub for Super
Tuesday-centric political videos.
Voters, candidates and news
organizations can upload their footage
to the site and tag it with a geographic
location on the Super Tuesday YouTube
Channel
(www.youtube.com/supertuesday),
where it can be tracked and viewed on a
Google Map.
"Super Tuesday has historically been a
defining moment in American elections
and this year the enthusiasm is building
on YouTube," said Steve Grove, YouTube's
Head of News and Politics. "Through our
Super Tuesday YouTube channel, we
provide a single destination where
anyone can turn to follow the February
primaries as they unfold in states,
cities, and towns across America."
Everyday voters, Democratic campaigns,
Republican campaigns and news
organizations have unique markers that
make it easy for voters to distinguish
the source of the video when displayed
on the Google Map. Contributions will
include a broad range of content from
predictions and personal reflections, to
interviews and nation-wide campaign
efforts.
This is the first presidential election
where citizens have been able to cover
the action and see their videos sit
side-by-side with those from
presidential campaigns and news
organizations. By creating a dynamic
Super Tuesday channel, YouTube enables
people to experience the election
through a variety of perspectives, each
which furthers the political dialogue
that has been occurring on the site
since its inception.
