Not all video web sites
have to be super sophisticated and slick to be effective. Sometimes
it is a simple site, with easy to follow links and logic, that can
work the best. For example, check out
Robin Henkel's web site. A
musician, he uses the site to promote himself and his music. He has
a very simple video web page with a nice assortment of video clips.
Are you a Badman? Maybe
you ought to be. Check out the very cool very sophisticated animated
music videos at the Badman site.
Produced and created by Sean Nadeau. We were really impressed
by the "Kissing a Fool" and "Yoshimi Battles the Robots" clips. This
is a fun site if you like music and animation.
Do you shoot and edit
music videos? Do you have a cool music video of your band or
yourself performing? You should set up a site to promote it and your
video/music talents. Check out the "Latest Music Videos" sites to
see music videos created by Roy Roberts. His newest creation is
Camilla's "Don't Say
Never." Not a big budget production, he did all the effects,
video and editing. Also check out a few of other music video as well
as his links to other music video sites.
Are
you into hip hop or rap? Do you want to create your own music videos
or produce music videos for other artists? Check out
Xyrus
Entertainment and their portfolio of hip hop music videos. This
is another excellent example of how by using a bit of creativity,
some web smarts, and Internet video, a small business can get itself
seen and promoted via the web. By the way, they are also producing
and promoting their own music video television show called
Boom Boom
Videos. High energy and lots of fun.

There's an old
rock & roll biz joke - are you a musician or are you a drummer?
Don't beat on me, mr percussion, I just tell the jokes.... Anyhow,
if you have any interest at all in rock & roll or drumming, you got
to go visit the

Fastest Drummer web site. They got lots of
videos and you have to see
Jason Farmer: The Freddie Krueger of Drumming.
Do you think there is
too much sex and violence in music videos? Perish the
thought--especially when L.A. director Ken Cravens is behind the
lens. A crazy quilt of film, video, still photos and graphics,
Cravens' music videos invariably get the mixture just right. Whether
it's the incendiary salaciousness of foxy Roxy Saint, the Afro-punk
adventure-rock of Blood Sugar or the slashing Iggy-esque attack of
The Knives.
Check it out at iFilm.

chance to check out Rob
Dougan - his music and his videos?
You might want to also try this
custom player version.
The Skin was designed by New York-based web
"un-designer" Jason
Kottke
While Quicktime skins may not replace all
the "Flashturbation" which
passes off as web design on so many web
sites. Jason's work is clearly more
creative and technically challenging than
most stuff floating around these days. The
Quicktime skin is much smaller than a
standard digital video file, yet it
contains much more content. Viewers are able
to use it to play five different videos that
showcase Rob Dougan tracks. They can link to
Dougan's web site and also link to buy the
music. To appreciate the level of expertise
required. Here
is how this is done.

you like music videos? Check out VideoC
from United Kingdom. They have links to an incredible range of new

only 30 seconds long. However, for quick sampling, you can beat this.

And of course, the other headliner in
the world of online music video in MTV.com and their web
music video page. A bit more edgy than Rolling Stone's page, the MTV
site offers the latest new videos, as well as full-length versions of
videos that often you see played short. You also get online access to a
variety of MTV productions including MTV.com Unplugged and live
performances. And of course, there are message boards to discuss your

Anybody
can make a rock and roll video. You don't need to be a record company or
entertainment conglomerate. You don't need to be a rock and roll star or
even a half a decent musician. Check out StudentFilms.com
and watch the music videos. Some are made by real bands and others are
basically just moviemakers having fun and lip-syncing to the music.
Internet
Film Community is a great site with great experimental movies
and extremely cool music videos. Some of our favorites include
"Sexy
Boy" by Air, a very innovative animated music video, and "Java
Noir", a extremely well made and dark look at the world of
mystery and coffee and atmosphere.
Here's
another cool site with lots of links to music videos. Find
Videos. You can search among pop, rock, metal, dance, rap, R&B,
country, reggae and even comedy (with lots of Adam Sandler clips). Most
of the clips are in Windows Media Player, Real Media or Flash formats.
Definitely worth checking out. For most of the artists, FindVideos
also includes links to their "official" web sites.
Unfortunately, some of the links are not current or have even been
hijacked by porn sites.
