GLOBAL EDUCATION MARKET CHANGING BY FIBER TECHNOLOGY
by Roxanne Batson
Education is a big industry. It is 10% of the US GNP, over a trillion dollars.
In a few Asian countries where education is the most emphasized matter in their life such as Korea, Japan and Taiwan, and now the Chinese new middle classes, 20% of the GNP is education related.
There is both public and private education. Sometimes, private education is bigger than public education.
What does that have to do with film and video? Let's start with the current state of education.
There are too many students and not enough good teachers and not enough money provided by governments to build classrooms. Students are not able to learn properly due to overcrowding in classroom and teachers who must contend with 25-35 students at one time. We see the results by the massive amount of children now suffering from A.D.D., Attention Deficit Disorder. More and more students are dropping out or are failing which can lead to mental and social problems.
We believe that education will migrate to the Internet. Regardless of what you think about the education through Phoenix University Online, nobody questions how successful they have been at bringing education to the net. However, to some degree, it's still done in traditional text reading and is still boring for children and adults.
Through the use of film/video/animation, though, education transforms into edutainment. Interactive media can directly impact the lives of these students because it is more personalized learning that is also entertaining.
However, for fast uploading to the consumer, fiber attached directly to the creator's home or office is needed.
Our education system must change. The need for reducing expenses in a highly competitive environment is driving that change to the worldwide web. As creative professors come up with new ways to teach lessons via the Internet, education will eventually become purely market demand driven by interaction between teachers and students. Courses can be flexible wherever demand and supply exist. With many courses to choose from, consumers will be in control, not producers.
This online teaching and studying provides the basis for R&D-Research and Development centers of new industry and technology. This then leads to the development of new products sold via new online businesses. Once students begin using the Internet as their main forum for education, able to work in their own space and time from the comfort of their homes, we will complete the evolution. Those pioneers who are on the forefront now will benefit the most from their experience and knowledge.
Filmmakers and videographers who offer their services to professors will be able to create their own demand for their work. Professors combined with skilled web professionals and video professionals will excel at reaching the educational market naturally by their entertaining and interactive instruction.
This is why we offer a collaborative environment for our members at WSN TV, to put these talented people together to learn from each other and to work together.
Promotion of edutainment will still be necessary to attract the consumers business. Those who know how to pool their work with others to attract more consumers will naturally benefit. Individual web site owners get easily lost in the crowd of millions of similar individual web site owners.
This is one of the benefits of association for the professional with companies like Internet Video Magazine and WSN TV. That is also the reason we are promoting the use of fiber because it will be required to make this transition to Internet based society possible so that "Artists, Writers and Producers Will Never Be Hungry Again!"
