Are you
looking for an affordable production
accessory to help make your videos look a
lot smoother and more professional. Don't
want to pay thousands for a Steadicam but
want those kind of cool, fluid moves?
Maybe you
just want a simple to use camera platform
for shooting? Take the weight off your arms
and shoulders and put it where it belongs.
Check out
the DV Caddie from www.dvcaddie.com.
There are
two
versions - the DV Caddie Jr. ($109) for people who use smaller camcorders
that weigh in under five pounds.
The more expensive and deluxe DV Caddie is
for heavier camcorders or those with a bunch of attachments hanging off of
them. The DV Caddie ($199) is designed for video "professionals" and will
support camcorders up to 25 pounds in weight.
Combining an adjustable shoulder strap, a special pan and tilt head, and a
float lock and bar, this simple to use device makes it easier to carry your
camcorder around all day as well as helps stabilize your shots. The
built-in lockable pan and tilt head to make it possible to do complex shots
while you are moving.
Not only will using the DV Caddie make your shots steadier, but because the
strap slips over your head and shoulder and supports the camcorder, it
makes it easier to lug around your camera and shoot all day long. This is
of particular advantage to those using heavier "prosumer" camcorders such
as the Canon XL series.
Because the mountings are flexible, you can adapt the DV Caddie to shoot in
a variety of ways. You can use the DV Caddie to suspend the camcorder at
ankle height to get cool moving low angle moving shots. Have you ever been
stuck in a crowd and can't get a shot of the band or performers in front of
you? You can use the DV Caddie sitting on your shoulder to elevate the
camcorder over your head, and over the heads of those in front of you.
The DV Caddie also provides a cool function that enables camera operators
to float the camera while walking - providing that cool "Steadicam" glide
at a fraction of the cost of a true
Steadicam.
